Betty A. Laten-Gilberto

Betty Laten-Gilberto, age 86, of Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025. Betty was born June 24, 1939, in Manchester, CT, to John Laten and Margherita Foglio. She was raised in Manchester and attended Manchester High School, where she met the love of her life, Gene Gilberto. Though they were young and parted ways for many years, they joyfully reconnected later in life and spent their remaining years together until Gene predeceased her on November 24, 2016.

Before reconnecting with Gene, Betty was working in the insurance industry (25+ years) and married David Skorka. They shared three beloved daughters: Cheryl Mamelson (Craig), Dawn Devoe (Mark), and Tami Brophy (Terry). She was also the dear sister of John Russell (Sherri) and the late Barry Russell. She loved spending time with family and friends and especially cooking Italian dishes she grew up with.

In her final days, Betty was surrounded by her loving daughters, sons-in-law, granddaughters Brooke Brophy and Amanda Brophy, and her great-grandson Sy. All gathered for private blessings on Thanksgiving.

Betty was a wonderful mother and will forever be remembered for her kind heart, deep love, delicious food, and beautiful smile. She touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
