Charlotte was born on a winter’s day, February 25, 1947, in Syracuse, New York, the cherished daughter of David and June Carr Bixby. She grew up cradled by the values and bonds of family, wisdom gathered beneath the snowy branches of her upstate New York home.

Charlotte’s journey through education began with the halls and warmth of Hammond High School in Alexandria, Virginia. There, her gentle, sweet spirit began to blossom, setting down roots that would imbue every future friendship and endeavor with a serene kindness. The pursuit of learning brought her to Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where her curiosity for the world—its beauty and its complexity—grew ever deeper.

In 1977, Charlotte began a new chapter, marrying William "Bill" Hubbard in the quiet town of Epping, New Hampshire. Their union was more than a partnership—it was an enduring friendship built on laughter, shared adventure, and mutual support that would extend across decades. Bill stands today as her loving survivor, guardian of their shared memories and the steady presence at her side through all of life’s seasons.

Charlotte cultivated passions both practical and profound. Her hands learned artistry and nourishment as a chef for fishing lodges in Bristol Bay, Alaska, surely feeding both body and spirit in the wild north. In Tucson, she became not only a dweller of the desert but also an artist—her creativity radiating through stained glass and jewelry, each piece touched with the kind, sweet essence that defined her. She delighted in exploring Tucson’s rugged beauty, hiking beneath expansive skies, always at peace among the cacti and sun-warmed stones. For Charlotte, nature was not something apart but a beloved companion; animals and wild places called to her, and she answered with understanding and affection.

Her time at local gem shows was an extension of her artistry—a constant search for beauty, for inspiration, for gleaming raw stones to transform with her gentle patience. To each bead, each pane of luminous glass, Charlotte brought the same spirit with which she moved through life: a desire to help, a love for the small forgotten things, and an unwavering kindness.

Though she was raised Methodist, Charlotte’s compassion and sense of moral purpose extended well beyond the walls of any sanctuary.
