Douglas Harold Redmann

Douglas Harold Redmann, 78, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026 at Crossroads Assisted Living.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Paul & Virginia Redmann, and brothers George & Bill Redmann.

Born in Evanston, Illinois, Doug became the self-appointed “king of the playground” at Lincoln Elementary School. With his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and outgoing personality, he made friendships there that lasted a lifetime. At Nichols Junior High, he began the path toward becoming a standout athlete, and by the time he attended Evanston Township High School, he was a three-sport varsity athlete.

Doug played football at the University of Illinois, where he met the love of his life, Jane. They married in 1972. He received his Master’s degree at University of Arizona and began his coaching career under Jim Young. Doug went on to coach at both the University of Arizona and Purdue University, where he became Offensive Coordinator. Throughout his coaching career, he earned the admiration of his players and the respect of the coaches who worked with him.

In 1982, Doug began a new chapter at the Chicago Board of Trade. Later that year, he welcomed his son, Reid. There are many stories of Doug trading on the floor of the CBOT, where his booming coaching voice, remarkable mathematical ability, and unforgettable sense of humor became legendary among his fellow traders. His creativity, larger-than-life personality, and quick wit left a lasting impression and created countless memories for everyone who had the pleasure of working with him.

Doug is survived by his son Reid, granddaughter Nilah, and Jane.

Doug will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, generous spirit, and deep connection to his family and friends. He had an extraordinary ability to make people laugh, to make friends wherever he went, and to leave a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy lives on in the memories, stories, and laughter he shared with so many. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
