Fernando Moreno, 69, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on July 13, 2025, at the Tucson VA Hospital. Born in Douglas, Arizona, to Luis and Delfina Moreno, Fernando was a devoted husband, father, and proud U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was raised in Douglas, where he graduated from Douglas High School and began his studies at Cochise Community College. He went on to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Arizona. A lifelong Wildcats fan, Fernando also rooted passionately for the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed the thrill of horse racing.
His career and life journey took him to Florida and Phoenix before he retired in Tucson, where he most loved spending time with his family and friends. Known for dancing behind the barbecue grill to his favorite music while entertaining loved ones, Fernando’s vibrant spirit brought joy and laughter to every gathering.
Fernando is survived by his beloved wife, Imelda Moreno; his children, Fernando Jr., Audrey, and Jose; his brother and sister-in-law, Mario and Maria Moreno; and his nieces and nephews, Aneli, Mario Jr., and Bernadette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Delfina Moreno.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 2, 2025, at 11:30 AM at the Kaycee Men’s Club, 601 S. Tucson Blvd, Tucson, Arizona.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Fernando’s name to the Fisher House Foundation, which builds comfort homes where military & veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital.
