Marcos Vicente Montoya, born October 19, 1976, died December 15, 2025. Marcos is survived by his mother, Jennie V. Chavez; his father, Proceso R. Montoya and wife, Debbie Carvlin; his sister, Tanya Lujan and his two nieces, Yesenia and Ali Lujan and numerous relatives in New Mexico, Colorado, and California.

Marcos graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque. He worked at Sears for five years and as a wheelchair attendant at the Albuquerque Airport, which was his favorite job. He enjoyed sports and rooted for the New Mexico Lobos, hometown Isotopes, the Eagles, the Broncos, and the Dodgers. He loved to watch game shows and once a month would go to the casino and was always lucky.

Marcos was a kind, innocent, and beautiful soul and despite having several ‘whammies’, diabetes, heart surgery, visual impairment, and cancer, he faced each condition with bravery. He saw ‘little children’ greeting him at the end and was led away to heaven by angels. His sister Tanya was at his side, held his hand, and relieved his anxiety. He will forever be missed by his family, his mother and caregiver as he was her companion who always reminded her to put her seatbelt on and checked that doors were locked at night.

Many thanks to all the medical staff who attended to him at Banner, TMC and DCI. A celebration of life will be held for Marcos in warmer weather in his hometown of Albuquerque. Details will be shared by his sister at a later date.
