Robert S. Thompson, affectionately known as Bob, was born on December 8, 1935, in Manhattan, New York. He passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. His journey through life was marked by a strong sense of independence and a steadfast commitment to the pursuits he loved.

Bob pursued his passion for understanding people by studying Criminology at Pima Community College. His academic curiosity was complemented by a life dedicated to service, as he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, demonstrating his deep sense of duty and patriotism.

Throughout his life, Bob was a vibrant member of several communities, earning recognition as a lifetime member of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and the Tucson Trap & Skeet Club. His interests extended beyond academics and service; he was an avid hunter, camper, and skeet shooter, embracing the great outdoors with enthusiasm. His love for dogs was also well-known among family and friends, reflecting his affectionate and nurturing nature.

Bob is survived by his son, Hume Thompson, as well as three cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Scofield Thompson and Jane Brownson Weeks, and his brother, William Thompson, all of whom he held dear in his heart.

The impact Bob had on those around him, from his family to the larger community of enthusiasts, will be remembered and celebrated in the years to come. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, independence, and love for life that will continue to inspire and resonate within the hearts of his loved ones.
