It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Lawrence Brand, who departed us on January 20, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on April 1, 1948, in Dearborn, Michigan, Ron dedicated over 40 years of his life to serving the public, first through the Detroit Police Department and later with the Tucson Police Department. His commitment to upholding the law and protecting his community was a testament to his character and deep-rooted sense of duty.
Ron was a proud man, but his pride was never as pronounced as it was when he spoke of his family. He lived for his wife, Juanita, whom he cherished for nearly 50 wonderful years, and for their nine children: Theresa, Edgar, Tony, Henry, Tim, Greg, Maria, Juanita, and Michael...and Tricia (technically granddaughter but raised as our sister). He was a strong role model for his sons, yet he had an undeniable tenderness that endeared him to his daughters. To them, he was not just a father; he was a soft teddy bear, always providing a stable and loving environment that allowed them to grow up happy and healthy.
In his final days, surrounded by the warmth and love of his children, memories flowed freely—memories of carefree summers spent at the lake and weekend picnics that always ended with a splash in the pool. Those moments echo through time, painted in laughter and the unmistakable bond of family. Ron had this innate ability to throw his children into the pool, both literally and metaphorically, showing them how to embrace life with joy and spontaneity. But he was also the one to teach them how to swim, to provide for themselves as they entered adulthood as responsible citizens.
Beyond his unwavering dedication to family, Ron had a zest for life that shone in his hobbies. He took pleasure in adventurous motorcycle rides on his beloved Harley and cherished trips taken with Juanita and their friends. His stories would light up the room, his energy contagious, drawing everyone into the memorable escapades that defined his spirit.
Ron was also deeply involved in his community and served many years with the Eastside Elks, where he held the prestigious title of Exalted Ruler. This role reflected his commitment not only to his family but also to the community at large, as he believed in giving back and supporting those around him.
As we gather to remember this remarkable man, let us cherish the love he so freely gave, the strength he instilled in his family, and the laughter that will forever ring in our hearts. Ron's legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his sister, Debbie, who carry forward the values he held dear.
Now reunited in spirit with his beloved Juanita, Ron has moved on to spend eternity with the love of his life—a love that remains eternal, undiminished by the passage of time. His journey here may have come to an end, but the memories he created and the love he shared will forever remain etched in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Ron/Dad/Peepa. You will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
We would be remiss in not mentioning the extended branches of his tree that make the legacy complete:
