It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tobin (Toby) Richard Jones, 53, of Tucson, AZ on September 9, 2024. Tobin was born to Bill and Joye Jones on May 3, 1971 in Indianapolis, IN.
Tobin’s sudden passing is a devastating loss to his family and friends. Tobin attended Robey Elementary School and Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, IN graduating in 1989. He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in his youth and served his community as an EMT for the Wayne Township Fire Department. Tobin graduated with his A & P from Vincennes Aviation Technology Center and later earned his bachelors from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Tobin was employed at the Pratt and Whitney Columbus, GA Engine Center for many years and for Skywest Airlines Heavy Maintenance in Tucson, AZ until he lost his eyesight in 2021.
When Tobin lost his eyesight he did not lose his motivation and love of entertaining. He restored a 1905 Oldsmobile horseless carriage relying on his sense of touch and years as an aircraft mechanic. His son Bennett was usually by his side to hand him tools and listen to stories about the dumb things he did when he was a kid. Tobin always had something cooking on the smoker and loved to terrify people by using a table saw and taking on crazy home and holiday projects.
Tobin is survived by his former spouse and close friend Adrienne Jones, their children Callum and Bennett Jones, parents, William and Joye Jones, brother, Kevin (Amy) Jones. Nephew, Christopher and nieces, Katelynn and Addison Jones and his beloved English bulldog, Gracie. He is also survived by his ride-or-die, favorite team, the Indianapolis Colts.
Tobin left this world a hero. He was an organ donor and through DonateLife America he was able to save the lives of 3 men and enrich countless others through his final act of kindness. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of St Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, AZ and the DonateLife Arizona nurses and family care representatives for the compassionate, comforting care they provided to Tobin and his family, especially his children. Tobin was able to leave this world peacefully surrounded by family and wearing his Colts gear.
